This semi-annual Taqueria development report was prepared to provide Taqueria users and stakeholders with an update on development progress and community engagement from February 1, 2022, to July 31, 2022.
The Taqueria team’s primary focus over the previous six months has been to deliver feature completeness for dapp developers using LIGO as their preferred language for smart contract development.
Taqueria provides LIGO developers with a way to build, test and deploy their dapps. Developers can now compile complex and multi-file contracts written in any of the LIGO syntaxes. Taqueria has also added a Jest plugin to make testing more intuitive and embedded into the developer workflow. A GitHub Action for CI/CD implementation has also been published and is available for anyone wanting to use Taqueria in a CI/CD context.
The powerful new State API tool gives Taqueria a wide array of capabilities when it comes to persisting the state of a project. The Taqueria team prioritized the development of this tool based on user feedback. We believe it adds tremendous value for Taqueria users.
The Taqueria team has also created an NFT scaffold (reference implementation) that allows Taqueria users to quickly and easily create and implement a TZIP-compliant NFT project. The NFT scaffold initiated the development and publication of separate Taqueria IPFS and metadata plugins. The scaffold includes a front-end React app, and all other Taqueria components required for users to start and launch an NFT project. In addition to creating immediate value for end users, the NFT scaffold provides users with an applied example of how Taqueria can be used to manage projects.
Although LIGO support was a primary development focus over the last six months, the Taqueria team continues to work with and build support for SmartPy. Thanks to contributions from the Archetype team, we have also introduced an Archetype plugin for Taqueria.

ECAD Labs adopted a “soft-launch” marketing and awareness strategy for Taqueria during the initial project development phases. As Taqueria matures and is better positioned to create additional value for new and experienced Tezos developers, ECAD Labs will engage with ecosystem partners to expand marketing and awareness efforts across and beyond the existing Tezos developer user base.
The Taqueria team has expanded its marketing and awareness efforts to reach key user groups. Over the previous six months, the Taqueria team sought to build awareness and solicit feedback from the existing Tezos developer community and attract new Taqueria users appropriate for the maturity of the product. To generate awareness, we used a mix of interviews and social media.
The interviews used to promote Taqueria were:
